Kedarkantha Trek
Kedarkantha is located in the Govind wilf life Santuary, Uttarkashi district in Uttarakhand. The trek to kedarkantha summit starts from sankri village which is well connected with public transport from various places. The sankri village lies is the tons valley which is one the most scenic valley in uttarakhand. The road to sankri provides excellent scenic views of the tons river which surely is a delight to watch. There is a check post in Netwar from where the necessary permits must be taken by trekkers so as to enter the wildlife sanctuary .The trek to kedarkantha takes about 3 – 4 days depending on the speed of a person.
Trek Details
1.Sankri to Juda ka talab campsite = 4 kms, 9251 feet
2.Juda ka talab to kedarkantha base campsite = 2 kms, 11151 feet
3.Kedarkantha base campsite to summit = 3 kms, 12500 feet
4.Kedarkantha summit to Har goan Camp site = 5 kms, 8900 feet
Why kedarkantha
Kedarkanth is moreover known for its winter trek during which it provides excellent views of the Greater Himalayas of Himachal and Uttarakhand. Peaks like Swargarohini, Blach peak, Bandarponch etc. can be seen from the summit. This is one the most scenic trek in this region of uttarakhand which passes through beautiful meadows and giant pine forest. Patches of snow can also be experienced during the month of April which makes the trek unique one.

Note: Public transport vehicles are available from various places all the way to sankri. The temperature during winters can go well below 0 degree so do carry warm clothes during winters.
