Trekking distance – 4.5 kilometres from clouds end
Month – July (11.7.2015)
Starting point – Barlowganj

The days of monsoon season are hard to predict as bad weather and heavy shower can easily ruin your plan. After heavy showers early in the morning the weather had cleared a bit, which gave us a chance to explore our surroundings. After having quick discussion with my friends we decided to go for a short trek to Benog hill. We picked up some basic eatable items and water bottles which we would require later on. It took us 25 minutes to reach clouds end from Barlowganj. The trail from clouds end was covered with leaves and forest mushroom here and there. The forest was beautiful as chirping of birds could be heard very clearly and sudden sounds of bird flying or running away was some time scary. We followed the trail till we saw a stone with an arrow mark showing the direction and distance. We followed this trail knowing we still had 3.5 kms to go. From here on forth is a steep ascent till benog hill. At around 10:30 am we reached benog hill. There was a temple on the top, the view from here gives a 180 degree view of Yamuna valley below, the peaks of Garhwal and Nag tibba hill ahead. We spent about 1.5 hours on the top and explored as much as we could. The time we spent there was lovely as clouds were constantly changing the landscape.

If you stand still, the landscape doesn’t really tell you how big it is. It doesn’t really tell you what you are looking at. The moment you start to move the mountain starts to move. We followed the same track and were safely home with beautiful memories to share with various people.

Note – Must carry edible items and water as there are no shops ahead of hathipao.
